China reports 44 new COVID-19 cases on Jan 25 vs 45 a day earlier

BEIJING, Jan 26 (Reuters) - China reported 44 new COVID-19 cases on the mainland on Jan. 25, down from 45 cases a day earlier, the national health authority said on Wednesday.

The National Health Commission said in a statement that 24 of the new cases were locally transmitted and the rest imported.

The number of new asymptomatic cases, which China does not classify as confirmed cases, rose to 64 from 43 a day earlier.

There were no new deaths, leaving the death toll at 4,636.

As of Jan. 25, mainland China had reported 105,749 cases (Reporting by Gabriel Crossley and Liangping Gao; Editing by Jacqueline Wong)
