GENEVA, Jan 24 (Reuters) - Ethiopia's envoy to the United Nations in Geneva was twice interrupted during a World Health Organization meeting on Monday as he attempted to deliver a speech criticising the global body's current leader, who comes from the Tigray region.
"The matter including the request contained in the note verbale will not be considered by the board," said WHO Executive Board chair Patrick Amoth, referring to a previous request from Addis Ababa to investigate director-general Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus for allegedly supporting rebellious forces fighting the Ethiopian government.
"As a consequence further discussion of the matter is not germane and is therefore out of order under the relevant rules of procedure." (Reporting by Emma Farge Editing by Gareth Jones)
