Osaka to report record COVID cases, exceed 3,000 cases - NHK

Jan 15 (Reuters) - Japan's western region of Osaka is set to report a record number of COVID-19 cases on Saturday, with more than 3,000 daily cases, the country's public broadcaster NHK said.

Japan has stepped up coronavirus restrictions in three regions that host U.S. military facilities, after it appeared that Omicron outbreaks at the bases spilled into the surrounding communities. (Reporting by Mari Saito; Editing by William Mallard)
