BEIJING, Jan 12 (Reuters) - China's northern city of Tianjin said on Wednesday it will postpone its annual parliamentary sessions due to an outbreak of COVID-19.
The local People's Congress and the local political advisory body was originally scheduled to open on Jan. 17 and Jan. 16 respectively, according to a notice about the postponement on the Congress website.
Hit by the Omicron variant, Tianjin, about 100 km (62 miles) southeast of Beijing, reported 33 domestically transmitted coronavirus confirmed infections for Tuesday, up from 10 the day before, national data showed. (Reporting by Beijing newsroom, Editing by Louise Heavens)
